New faces arrived on campus this week for Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University's New Student Orientation, taking place Aug. 7-9. The first orientation session includes approximately 185 students in the Doctor of Medicine and Medical Master's programs.

A second orientation session will be held Aug. 21-23 for students in the Counseling and Art Therapy, Biomedical Sciences (Ph.D.), Biomedical Sciences – Research (M.S.), Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Surgical Assisting and Pathologists’ Assistant programs.

During both sessions, Robert Fullilove, Ed.D., will give a keynote presentation entitled, “Cultural Humility and The Future of Medicine & Public Health.” Dr. Fullilove is the associate dean for community and minority affairs at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, professor of clinical sociomedical sciences at Columbia University Medical Center and co-director of the Cities Research Group.

An MD White Coat Ceremony will be held Friday, Aug. 16 at Harrison Opera House.
