New database training available for researchers, students
EVMS Research is now participating in the TriNetX platform for clinical research data. The service is being made available through Sentara for EVMS researchers. TriNetX contains hundreds of millions deidentified clinical data records that faculty and students can use for research. In many medical schools, TriNetX is the major database used by medical students for their research projects and is an alternative to using identifiable electronic health record (EHR) data stored in EPIC, AllScripts, Cerner and other similar systems that usually require IRB approval for access.
By participating in TriNetX, EVMS faculty and students will have improved access to data for conducting their research projects because not only has the data been deidentified, but the number of records far outnumbers that contained in any one EHR system alone.
Two virtual TriNetX training sessions will be conducted for the EVMS community in March. The first workshop will be held Thursday, March 23. The second will take place Thursday, March 30. Both sessions are 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Participants need only attend one session. Sessions will be recorded for those who cannot attend synchronously. No RSVP is necessary.
