Faculty, staff stars recognized at legacy awards event
Members of the Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University community came together Nov. 6 to celebrate excellence in service among employees. During the 2024 EVMS Legacy Faculty & Staff Awards, 30 people were honored for their individual and team-based contributions across a broad range of research, education and patient care.
“Last year, EVMS legacy faculty and staff members played a critical role in our success — including our successful integration with ODU,” said Alfred Abuhamad, MD, executive vice president of Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University and dean of Eastern Virginia Medical School at ODU. “Every person in this room helped us achieve our goals and reach this new chapter in our history.”
Dr. Abuhamad was joined in the celebration by other members of senior leadership, including ODU President Brian Hemphill, Ph.D., along with award winners’ friends, colleagues and family members.
“Whatever your role, your daily efforts help protect and improve the health and well-being of the people of Hampton Roads,” Dr. Abuhamad said. “We appreciate your dedication, and we admire your outstanding work to improve the health of our community.”
