David Huband to retire, Tammy Chrisman, MBA, steps into new role
After 42 years of dedicated service to EVMS, David Huband, Associate Dean of Business and Administrative Affairs, will retire effective June 30.
“While his impending retirement has been planned for several years, his departure from the institution is no less bittersweet,” says Helen Heselius, Vice President of Administration and Finance. “Mr. Huband has been an invaluable member of the business office as well as a strong EVMS advocate on campus and in the community. His expertise, dedication and leadership will be missed.”
Mr. Huband joined EVMS in 1980 as an accounting clerk and later moved to Business Affairs where he held several roles including his most recent title as Associate Dean. In this role, Mr. Huband assisted departments with all aspects of business operations including budget preparation, hiring faculty and financial monitoring. He is perhaps best known across campus as the person in charge of space, as he was often seen walking the halls to identify available space and to determine how it could be best utilized.
Tammy Chrisman, MBA, will step into a new role after Mr. Huband’s retirement.
Ms. Chrisman, herself a 33-year EVMS employee, currently serves as the Associate Vice President of Finance. Beginning July 1, her duties and title will expand to also include Business Affairs.
“This new role is ideal for Ms. Chrisman, as she has a depth of experience in both the finance and business affairs offices,” Ms. Heselius says.
Ms. Chrisman joined EVMS in 1989 and served in various capacities within Financial Services before moving to Business Management in 2007 where she eventually became Assistant Dean for Business and Administrative Affairs. In that role, Ms. Chrisman helped plan, implement and monitor operating budgets and supervised the Business office, which is responsible for ensuring compliance with EVMS policies and procedures and providing support services for the institution.
Ms. Chrisman moved back to Financial Services in 2021 to serve in her current role as the Associate Vice President of Finance, where she is responsible for financial reporting, debt management, cash management, capital projects, investments and post-award administration. She also serves as the Assistant Treasurer to the EVMS Foundation.
