Shirley Elfishawy is a student at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. She received her B.S. in Public Health from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, in 2021. Shirley worked with Dr. Sonia Hasson on her Make Your Date project that aims to tackle the maternal and infant mortality rates in Detroit through education, transportation, and resources for the pregnant population. She also worked with Dr. Arash Javanbakht as a primary researcher on a project investigating the ties between methylated DNA and the premature death rates of first responders. Shirley was first author on a poster presentation entitled Understanding the Gap in Prescription Rates for Vaginal Estrogen to Treat Post-Menopausal Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections at the 32nd Congress on Controversies in Ob/Gyn held in Lisbon, Portugal. She is a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS). Her hobbies and interests include reading (loves
