Alfred Abuhamad, MD
Dr. Abuhamad plays a vital role within the institution and in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is the Mason C. Andrews Chair in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as the Executive Vice President, Health Sciences and Dean of the School of Medicine. Dr. Abuhamad has been a pioneering figure in ultrasound education, putting our institution at the forefront of handheld ultrasound curriculum. He has served as President of the Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Foundation and the Society of Ultrasound in Medical Education and Chair of the Ob Right program. Dr. Abuhamad has authored 31 book chapters, 156 articles in peer-reviewed journals and two textbooks on fetal echocardiography.

David Archer, MD
Dr. Archer, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, develops combination products for contraception and HIV prevention. Dr. Archer’s research interests focus on menopause, oral contraception and hormone replacement therapy. He has published extensively on hormone replacement therapy and endometrial bleeding. Dr. Archer is the editor of Menopausal Medicine, a publication of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and is on the editorial board of Menopause, the journal of the North American Menopause Society.

Joseph Hudgens, MD
Dr. Hudgens, Vice Chairman of Gynecologic Services, Director of the Sentara-Advanced Gynecologic Surgery Center and Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is an expert in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. Dr. Hudgens pioneered the 2-port myomectomy, which uses a specialized laparoscopic port that allows multiple tools to be inserted through the belly button. The surgical technique decreases the size and number of scars for patients.

Thomas Kimble, MD
Dr. Kimble, Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, serves as Associate Dean for Admissions and Enrollment for the MD program. In addition to his roles teaching and serving students, he is a member of the CONRAD clinical research team, an attending physician in OB-GYN’s contraception clinic, a Clinical Research/Reproductive Scientist Training Program (CREST) Scholar and a past chair of the Contraception Special Interest Group for the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. His primary research interests focus on contraception, uterine fibroids and inflammation in the reproductive tract.

Camille Kanaan, MD
Dr. Kanaan, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, has advanced experience in chorionic villus sampling, amniocentesis, fetal therapy, multiple gestation and abnormal placenta. Dr. Kanaan is a passionate educator and enjoys teaching medical students, residents and fellows. He has conducted research in prenatal diagnosis, pregnancy screening, gynecologic surgery, labor and delivery and more.

Elena S. Sinkovskaya, PhD
Dr. Sinkovskaya, Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is fellowship-trained in maternal-fetal medicine. Having completed a residency in cardiology and cardiac imaging, she has a unique background in both pediatric cardiology and fetal imaging. Dr. Sinkovskaya has trained many physicians and sonographers in fetal echocardiography. She is certified in ultrasound by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.

Steven Warsof, MD
Dr. Warsof, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Director of Genetics and Prenatal Diagnosis, has research expertise in prenatal diagnosis, screening for chromosomal abnormalities and clinical obstetrics. Dr. Warsof has received many accolades for his work in education and patient care. He was made an honorary member of the Israeli Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology for his longstanding volunteer efforts at the Azoraeli School of Medicine of the Galilee at Bar Ilan University in Sfat, Israel. Dr. Warsof has also been recognized as a Top Doc by Coastal Virginia Magazine and was named in the 2018 Best Doctors in America list.
