Patient Care
A variety of clinical services are provided by our teams in inpatient and outpatient settings. Some of these services include:
- Inpatient Infectious Disease Consultation Service: We staff two general ID consultative teams at the Sentara Norfolk General Hospitals. Our teams work closely with the hospital’s microbiology lab, the infection control team, and a dedicated infectious diseases pharmacist to optimize patient care. Our staff also provides care for patients at Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital.
- Outpatient Faculty Practice at Hofheimer Hall: Our clinical team provides consultative services for various infectious diseases; treatment of chronic viral hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and HIV; management of long-term antibiotic use; and hospital follow-ups.
- Tuberculosis Clinics: Our faculty provides care for patients with active tuberculosis or latent tuberculosis at the Norfolk Health Department and Virginia Beach Health Department.
- HIV & AIDS Clinic: Through the Ryan White program, we have a robust clinic providing service to a large group of patients with HIV/AIDS throughout Eastern Virginia. Our faculty provides clinical care and clinical supervision of public health departments located in Gloucester, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Norfolk, and on the Eastern Shore. Our team includes dedicated case managers to ensure that patients living with HIV receive access to a wide range of services that contribute to overall well-being.
- Antibiotic Stewardship & Infection Prevention: Our faculty leads the infection prevention and antibiotic stewardship efforts at the SNGH.
