General Internal Medicine
About the Division
The Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) is home to a large, diverse group of physicians dedicated to our mission of providing the best care to patients and populations, educating the next generation of physicians and scientists, and improving health and healthcare through clinical research. The division is comprised of highly talented faculty who are engaged in all aspects of academic medicine.
Division faculty also fill several key administrative roles within the Department of Internal Medicine and Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University and within our local partner, the Sentara Health System. The faculty in the Division are divided into three groups - those who practice exclusively in the inpatient setting (Hospitalists), those who practice solely in outpatient settings (Ambulists), and those who practice traditional internal medicine in inpatient and outpatient settings.
These three groups of physicians work together closely as a team providing excellent care to our patients.
