Fellows will have longitudinal rotations in two primary care sports medicine clinics and two orthopedic sports medicine clinics.
Fellows will have the opportunity to rotate in orthopedic surgical subspecialties, PM&R, musculoskeletal radiology, and physical therapy practices.
Fellows will cover high school and Division 1 football in the Fall and college basketball in the winter.
There will be opportunities to cover other athletic events throughout the year including high school football.
The fellow will be required to cover one mass event during the year.
There are several local marathons that take place in the Hampton Roads area which provide for a great learning experience.
Our medical school will be the primary medical physicians for the annual East Coast Surfing Championships. This is quoted as the longest running surf contest in the world!
Didactics will occur regularly with the program director. This will include board exam preparation, sports medicine fellows online lecture series, and sports ultrasound curriculum.
The fellow will be responsible for a case poster presentation during the year.
There will be several local and national conferences the fellow will have the opportunity to attend.
