Application process

All applications should be submitted electronically through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) as early as July prior to residency graduation. 

Requirements

  • Eligible to hold an approved license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Graduate of an approved allopathic or osteopathic medical school
  • Graduate of an ACGME-accredited residency program in one of the following specialties: Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Emergency Medicine, or Pediatrics

All applicants must include:

  • Recent photo
  • Personal statement 
  • Current curriculum vitae (CV)
  • At least three letters of recommendation with your ERAS application; at least one letter should come from your Program Director.
  • Medical school transcript 
  • USMLE and COMLEX transcripts
  • The Sports Medicine Fellowship is currently accredited by the ACGME for one fellow per academic year. All positions are matched in the NRMP Fellowship Match. Interested applicants should be sure to register for the NRMP Match.

The fellowship director will send invitations for interviews with faculty in the fall (typically September through November). One fellowship position will be awarded annually through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) for a one year term.
