Why I enjoy being the Program Director

Being a program director is a wonderful job! I love coming to work everyday and love to see our residents grow over the three years while at EVMS. I am a graduate of EVMS (MD Class of 2016) and from our residency program (Class of 2019). I enjoy teaching and I take pride in the fact that our program helps graduate excellent primary care doctors who are ready to care for people of all ages and walks of life and lead positive change. As a program director, I believe we can all make a difference in the world and inspire those around us to do the same. My “why” revolves around training the next generation of physician innovators, thinkers, educators and leaders of medicine and I believe I have the best leadership team at EVMS to do so!

Why I enjoy being the Associate Program Director

I find that my best self is when I am supporting others in achieving their goals. I get excited about programmatic innovation around education and care delivery, including how we can mutually improve our trainee learning and patient care activities. This includes strategies for feedback-giving and improving individual-level and team performance. Some of my most gratifying work is mentoring and career exploration with our residents and medical students. My goal is to prepare our residents to be responsive to community needs and to excel in today’s health care environment. Our leadership team shares a strong mission to graduate excellent physicians who will improve the health of their future communities!
