Local Address

It is a requirement for all students, both on ground and distance, to provide Macon and Joan Brock at Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University with your accurate and current physical location each semester. To meet state authorization requirements, it is imperative that Brock Virginia Health Sciences knows your physical or local address each semester.

Every student must verify their local address for each semester. The local address is where you are physically located when you are actively enrolled in school and completing an academic requirement. This address might be different than your permanent address or what you consider to be your official home residence. Your local address could also vary by semester depending on your academic requirements. Here are three examples to consider when you are reporting or updating your addresses:

  • Your permanent home address is South Carolina. Last semester, you lived in Charleston. However, this semester, you are enrolled in an internship course and living in Texas. Therefore, your local address for this semester should be updated to reflect the Texas address.
  • Your permanent home address is New York. You complete all of your academic requirements and courses online and live at your permanent home address. In this case, your local and permanent addresses are identical.
  • Your permanent home address is Virginia. You complete all of your didactic courses on campus. However, this semester, you are completing a clinical rotation in Florida that requires you to temporarily relocate for that semester. Your local address would be Florida for the semester of your out-of-state learning placement.

Before each semester begins, it is your responsibility to report any address changes to your local address. Your local address is where you will be living during the current semester. Keep in mind that this may change frequently based on your academic requirements and can be different than your permanent home address.
