Position and brief job description: Part-time including weekdays and weekends with on-call duties. 
Physician Assistant provides health care services to clients under direction and responsibility of physician. Assists the physician with the clinical operation of the program. Delivers medical and psychotherapeutic care through assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Performs Medical Assessment of clients/clients of the facility to determine general physical condition, following standard medical procedures. Completes documentation in the medical record accurately and timely recording all care rendered.
  • Organizes data concerning client's family, personal (medical and mental) history, and onset of symptoms obtained from client, relative and other source such as registered nurse or social worker.
  • Develops and implements client management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care in compliance with all industry, Medicare and federal or state licensing standards which relate to the clinical management of clients admitted to the facility.
  • Provides emergency services in the absence of the physician, including primary care for trauma, care/suturing of minor lacerations, casting/splinting, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, control of external hemorrhage and other procedures.
  • Prescribes medications and treatments for illnesses in accordance with state regulations.
  • Instructs and counsels clients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens.
  • Provides therapeutic treatments (disinfecting wounds, stitching etc.).
  • Orders laboratory and other special diagnostic tests, as may be required. Evaluates data upon receipt.
  • Provides client education and guidance to the clinical staff working with assigned clients to assure that quality of care is provided.
  • Works collaboratively with the physician in planning, instituting, evaluating and revising care plans; assists in determining conditions, resources and policies essential to the delivery of health care services.
  • Coordinates client care activities through ongoing consultation with the facility leadership team, such as clinical director, nursing director and medical director.
  • Reviews medical reports released under the name of the Facility for assigned clients.

Experience Required: 1-2 years of Addiction Medicine experience as well as:

  • Master's degree in Physician Assistant Specialty program from an accredited school ·
  • One or more years' experience working with client population of the facility.
  • Current professional Physician Assistant license required, per state regulations/requirements; may also require a current DEA license.
  • CPR and de-escalation certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).

Interventional Radiology is a multi-faceted discipline and combines a busy procedural schedule, with clinical management of hospital inpatients, and longitudinal care of outpatients via an expanding clinic. The position involves performing diverse interventional Radiology procedures, including, but not limited to, image guided venous access and line placement, catheter checks and removals, and ultrasound guided drainage procedures and biopsies. The PA will additionally be trained to perform fluoroscopic procedures. The PA will perform post procedural patient admissions/discharges, inpatient rounding and inpatient consults. The PA additionally assists in outpatient clinics performing HPI, patient physicals, and follow up evaluations. The Physician Assistant will be directly supervised by the IR attending physician.

The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills, works well as part of a team, and is proficient in the use of electronic medical records. The work schedule is weekdays 7am-5pm. This position does not require pager call, overnight call, or afterhours work. There may be some weekend daytime call for extra compensation. Excellent compensation and benefits package includes health insurance and 401K plan. A Masters degree from an accredited program and eligibility to obtain Virginia license are required. Willing and eager to train new graduates.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interview new patients to assess their symptoms, needs, or problems; record and utilize their medical history for diagnosis.
  • Perform well-women exams that include pap smears, pelvic, and breast exams.
  • Conduct follow-ups with patients to monitor and track their condition.
  • Counsel patients on safe sex practices and preventative medicine practices.
  • Monitor and treat patients during pregnancy and childbirth, including prenatal advising up to delivery and postnatal care, sometimes in collaboration with a midwife.
