Please see below for a listing of 2022 Commencement Week events. In addition to the institutionally planned events, there are many program-specific graduation events, some of which are listed below. You will receive more information from your respective program administrators regarding these events. Please note that this may not be a complete list, as planning is still underway.

While the Commencement Ceremony does not require tickets or have a guest limit, events such as program receptions, White Coat ceremonies, and other celebrations will require advance registration of you and your guests. Register to attend the Commencement Ceremony and other events by Monday, March 21, 2022.

Our current COVID-19 guidance does not require masking, proof of vaccination or a negative test result to attend Commencement exercises; however, please be advised that our masking policies may change with limited notice. We appreciate your understanding as we continue to navigate the pandemic and keep our community members safe during this time of celebration.

Due to the forecast of inclement weather, the EVMS Military Commissioning & Recognition Ceremony has been moved to the EVMS campus and will be held in Lewis Hall, McCombs Auditorium on Thursday, May 12 at 11:30 a.m. 

Doors will open to guests at 11 a.m. and the ceremony will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m.

Attire
  • Military graduates from the Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health programs should wear their service dress uniforms for their respective military branch.
  • Military graduates from the Master of Physician Assistant program should wear business attire and their white coats, as they will not be formally commissioned until requirements are completed at a later date. 
  • Retired military personnel may wear dress uniforms. All uniform and grooming standards apply as if on active duty.
  • Civilian guest dress code is business attire.

Saturday, May 14, 2022 • 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. EDT • Norfolk Scope

Commencement is an important occasion at EVMS. For our students, it culminates years of exceptional academic performance. It also provides our distinguished faculty an opportunity to celebrate our strong educational mission and to seal a life-long bond with our graduates.

The Commencement Ceremony begins promptly at 10 a.m. EDT and lasts approximately two to three hours. Graduates and Returning Alumni may bring as many guests as they would like. No tickets are required for entry. Download the full EVMS Commencement 2022 Program.

Below is a brief timeline for the day:

  • 8 a.m. - Exhibition Hall doors open for faculty, official platform party and graduating students
  • 8:30 a.m. - Students must check in for robing at Norfolk Scope Exhibition Hall
  • 8:45 a.m. - Arena doors open for family, friends and guests (general admission)
  • 10 a.m. - Ceremony processional promptly begins
  • 1 p.m. - Ceremony concludes (estimated time)

Note: Following the ceremony, graduates will return to the Exhibition Hall and will then proceed to the fountain outside the Norfolk Scope to meet their guests. It is recommended that graduates do not schedule post-ceremony events with family and friends until after 1:30 p.m.
