Angela Hogan, MD
Dr. Hogan is the chair of the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Asthma Committee and has developed initiatives such as the VA Asthma Action Plan for children. She is a frequent regional and national educator covering topics such as asthma management guidelines and SMART therapy. Dr. Hogan is a key healthcare provider and director for the [http://fare%20neighborhoods%20initiative%20-%20foodallergy.org/]FARE Neighborhood Initiative, providing educational resources and interventions to reduce healthcare disparities, especially in historically marginalized communities. This initiative was recently awarded to the Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University and CHKD.
Dr. Hogan is a founding member of the Coastal Food Allergy Support Group, which helps healthcare providers, schools, and families manage their food allergies. Her commitment to community service and education reflects her personal values. She believes in healthcare equity, and her lifelong experiences with asthma and food allergies fuel her dedication to making a difference.
Dr. Hogan's significant contributions to allergy and immunology were recently honored with the prestigious American Academy of Pediatrics 2023 Jerome Glaser Distinguished Service Award. This recognition, a testament to her expertise and dedication, underscores her extensive commitment to the AAP, educating school nurses, organizing outreach programs for community physicians, and teaching families and future doctors in pediatrics and allergy.
