The Brickell Medical Sciences Library, including the computer lab, closed at 5 p.m., Friday, April 10.

Physical distancing and face masks

As noted above, physical distancing and face masks are required in all library open spaces, as follows:

  • Open study areas (tables, carrels)
  • Corridors
  • Stairwells
  • Elevators
  • Computer classroom (limit 15 persons)
  • Computer lab (limit 10 persons)
  • Service desks (computer lab, circulation, information and public access computer stations) and staff offices

Building access

The main rotunda door (south door) is currently the only entrance and exit door for the Library. The north door facing the green space in front of Lester Hall remains exit only until 4th floor renovations are completed.

Housekeeping teams are cleaning and disinfecting Library spaces daily and nightly; with special attention to high touch areas such as tables, carrels, light switches and doorknobs throughout the day.

The Brickell Medical Sciences Library service desks have returned to pre-COVID hours, and the facility is open 24/7 on a limited basis under the following conditions:

  • No public access; only EVMS staff, faculty, students, and residents.
  • Transit through the Library is limited; entrance/exit to the Library is through the south door in the rotunda area; north door facing the green space in front of Lester Hall remains exit only until 4th floor renovations are completed.
  • Masks and social distancing required in all open library spaces, including:
    • Open study areas (tables, carrels)
    • Corridors
    • Stairwells
    • Elevators
    • Computer classroom (limit 15 persons)
    • Computer lab (limit 10 persons)
    • Service desks (computer lab, circulation, and information as well as public access computer stations)
    • Staff offices
  • Study rooms, study tables, and study carrels are labeled for use according to distancing guidelines. Study room use is limited to 1 to 2 persons as posted.
