Sent on behalf of EVMS Ramping Up Task Force

The EVMS Ramping Up Task Force continues to update its protocols and modify the EVMS COVID-19 website to ensure consistency with guidelines from the CDC and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Today, we want to share two announcements from the Task Force.

First, we have responded to the most frequent question that is asked of us: What should I do if I am exposed to a person with COVID-19 or if I have symptoms consistent with COVID-19. On the main page of the EVMS COVID-19 website we have created a box entitled: What should I do? When someone clicks on that link, they will be redirected to a page that has three links:

  • Employees (faculty, staff, residents and fellows)
  • Students
  • Supervisors

We hope these links will clarify the steps that need to be taken.

Second, we have determined that the current surge in COVID-19 cases requires that we continue to suspend research and service activities in the broader community until at least the end of August 2020. We will continue to monitor the situation as we are aware that there are a number of community-based activities that are being delayed or cancelled. That said, our highest priority is to do all that we can to ensure the safety of our faculty, staff, students, residents and fellows and of our community colleagues.

Remember, our strategy involves keeping those who have symptoms and feel sick at home and away from campus, wearing masks, maintaining social distance (6 feet) and routine handwashing and sanitizing.

Thank you for your understanding and perseverance.
