COVID-19 Update: What the Public Should Know

EVMS offered the Hampton Roads community an opportunity to learn the latest about the coronavirus during “COVID-19 Update: What the Public Should Know.”  Experts shared what they've learned and how we move forward during this public health panel. Local infectious disease physicians and public health officials provided updates and answered questions. The event was hosted jointly by the EVMS Master of Public Health program and the M. Foscue Brock Institute for Community and Global Health.

Homan: Our actions will shape coronavirus outcomes

Richard V. Homan, MD, President and Provost of EVMS and Dean of the School of Medicine, wrote a guest commentary published in The Virginian-Pilot on Sunday, April 19, 2020, outlining actions individuals, organizations and the region can take to "face the coronavirus threat proactively."

Sentara will host White Coats 4 Black Lives event Wednesday

Sentara Healthcare will host a White Coats 4 Black Lives event at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2020, on the green space in front of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital's Kaufman Pavilion.

The EVMS community is invited to join colleagues from Sentara and Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters for 8 minutes and 46 seconds of silence as participants kneel in front of the main entrance in honor of the lives that have been lost and those continuing to experience the pain of racism.

If you choose to participate, please remember the universal masking requirement on the EVMS campus, as well as social distancing.

Updated visitor guidelines and forms posted

Vaccinated visitors can now go without masks in non-clinical common areas. New guidance, the visitor vaccine status form and a helpful invitation template are now available.

Protocol for long-term campus visitors

Long-term visitors are defined as visitors expecting to be on campus more than five days. Any visitor who will be on campus for more than five days must complete training in Blackboard. Please contact the General Counsel’s office for training enrollment at least 72 hours in advance of the visit.
