Manikin-based simulators are useful for simulation scenarios that require complex physiological conditions, ones that cannot be well represented using other simulation tools and techniques. Examples of this context would be scenarios involving trauma or a critically ill patient.
The manikins are designed in a way to let learners identify and respond to these conditions in a way similar to how they would respond in a real-life situation. High fidelity/technology manikins are also useful in providing the context for medical team training and assessment.
