Library instruction sessions
Faculty members should consider scheduling a session for their students if there is a research component to the class. Course-related library instruction is one of the most effective ways to teach students the art of research. Instructional sessions are even more effective if done in conjunction with a specific assignment so that students can practice the skills and strategies taught.
Ask a librarian
Our librarians can help you learn how to use the library and its resources, conduct subject research, compile bibliographies and find quick, factual information. Librarians can do literature searches for community members, but there may be costs involved.
Course reserves
If you would like to place material on reserve for your students, please fill out the Reserve Collection Request Form. Forms are available at the Circulation Desk. If you have any questions, please contact the Circulation Desk at 757.446.5850.
Required readings should be placed on reserve. Please provide a list of materials required for your course so the library can secure them and make them available to students.
Any materials reproduced for the purposes of your course must be in accordance with copyright law.
