It is the Policy of Eastern Virginia Medical School and the EVMS School of Health Professions that written standards, criteria and procedures for the review and recommendation of individuals for faculty appointment, promotion, and tenure be established, maintained and disseminated to all faculty. An effective academic medical center requires a diverse faculty. Accordingly, the definitions and standards contained within this document pertain to the initial appointment, subsequent promotion, and tenure (when applicable) of all EVMS legacy school faculty engaged in the diverse areas of teaching, clinical care, research/discovery and administration/service.
In order to affirm the multiple roles that EVMS legacy school faculty contribute to the school's mission and vision and for our community, all faculty pursue one pathway toward appointment and promotion. The process is outlined in the Guidelines for Appointment and Promotion of EVMS Faculty The established global evaluative system takes into account the responsibilities and roles of each faculty group. Review the Guidelines for Appointment and Promotion of EVMS Faculty.
