Diversity in Educational Programs

Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University is committed to expanding access to healthcare, enhancing patient-centered care, and addressing gaps in healthcare availability, particularly in underserved communities. The school's goal is to develop a highly skilled medical and health professions workforce that improves community health through excellence in education, research, and patient care.

Individual appointments with pre-medical students to review their profiles in preparation for medical school are encouraged. We routinely meet with candidates to discuss available student support services. Counseling and advising are provided to prospective and enrolled students, with collaborative support from Academic Development, Admissions, Community Engagement, Education and Career Advising, Financial Aid, and Student Affairs.

We invite you to visit AspiringDocs.org, a resource from the Association of American Medical Colleges, to learn more about preparing for a rewarding career in medicine.
