Medical Simulation & Development Laboratory

The Medical Simulation Development Laboratory (MSDL) seeks to build on the NCCMMS mission by providing a targeted focus on basic and applied research in the medical simulation and related domains. As such, MSDL will establish itself as a center of excellence for MMS research, performing activities such as R&D, consulting, and prototype evaluation/implementation.

A facility of this type will contribute to the economic development of the Hampton Roads region by

• Creating employment opportunities for medical and engineering professionals
• Increasing corporate R&D funding in the region
• Exposing the advantages of the Hampton Roads region to corporate sponsors from outside the region
• Attracting high-tech industries to Hampton Roads
