The Leroy T. Canoles Jr. Cancer Research Center

The Leroy T. Canoles Jr. Cancer Research Center is dedicated to translational research that leads to improved care. Clinicians and scientists are brought together, collaborating to connect the laboratory and the physician's office.

Our researchers are working to develop new tools that will improve lives in Hampton Roads and beyond. Success means improved care for the more than 1.5 million people in the U.S. — 34,000 in Virginia — who will find out this year that they have cancer.

Education and Research Building

From the center's home in EVMS's new Education and Research Building, our scientists will expand research into new diagnostic and therapeutic tools. Studies at the center will vastly improve a physician's ability to find the best course of treatment for each patient.

By improving the way cancer is diagnosed and treated, the survival rate increases, as does the hope that we can beat this disease once and for all.
