EVMS community comes together at annual picnic Think medical school is no picnic? Well, it is at EVMS — at least for one afternoon. President Harry Lester welcomed new and returning students for a new year Tuesday with the annual President's Picnic, a relaxed get-together featuring barbecue and camaraderie.

Students — some with family members in tow — mingled with classmates, faculty members and school leaders at the low-key gathering as Lester got acquainted with the additions to the EVMS community. The picnic is part of a flurry of activity during the first week of the semester, which culminates Friday with the White Coat Ceremony for first-year M.D. students.
