Information for Community Faculty/ Preceptors

Services Available to You
Preceptors and community faculty member are entitled to services and resources through the Brickell Library. In order to access the Brickell Library resources and services you must be registered for Library services and an approved EVMS preceptor or community faculty member. Once registered, you will receive a user name and password that can be used to access restricted resources, including library databases, from your home or office.

Request a Literature Search
A Reference Librarian is on duty Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. to assist you. Contact the Reference Desk at (757) 446-5851 or e-mail library@evms.edu.

Request a Book or Article
Find out how to request a journal or a book from the Brickell Library collection and from outside the Brickell Library using ILLiad.

Find a Database
Find the Brickell Library databases. In order to access databases from off campus you must have an EVMS user name and password.

Find a Book or Journal 
Find a book or a print journal using the Brickell Library online catalog.  Please note that not all of our electronic journals are listed in the catalog. Go to the Electronic Journals page to see a complete listing of our electronic journals.

Find an EVMS Faculty Publication
The Faculty Publications Database is a searchable catalog of citations to articles, book chapters, and books by EVMS faculty. The database includes citations from July 1998 to the present.

Consumer Health Information for Your Patients
Find quality health information for your patients from reliable Web sites.

Schedule a Training Session
Through the Brickell Library Outreach Initiative, EVMS librarians have provided the region’s public librarians and the public with free training on how to access health information. In the past five years, thousands of people have attended EVMS classes at Hampton Roads public libraries, senior centers, and health fairs on how to find health information.
