Research Experience
The General Surgery Residency program at EVMS offers a one to two year research experience for interested residents. This experience is available to residents who display an avid interest in research which is consistent with the resident's career goals.
The one to two year research experience is performed upon completion of the PGY-2 year. During this experience, the resident maintains close contact with his/her research faculty advisor. The resident(s) is encouraged to present research results at national surgical research forums and submit at least one manuscript to a peer-reviewed journal.
2011-2013
Dr. Michael Soult and Dr. Vasilena Zheleva are both completing two years of resident research.
