Sleep Medicine Message from the Director

While EVMS Sleep Medicine fellowship program is designed to expose fellows to “bread and butter” sleep medicine (obstructive and central sleep apnea, persistent insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy), there are also unique aspects of the program that allow a more varied multigenerational patient experience. Training is at four different (and diverse) sites:

EVMS’s Fort Norfolk Plaza Sleep Disorders Center, Sentara Norfolk General Hospital’s Sleep Disorders Center, Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters and Veterans Administration Medical Center-Hampton.

The sleep medicine experts have diverse backgrounds in psychology, pulmonary/critical care, neurology and pathology. There is also the unique opportunity to engage in studies utilizing a driving simulator as well as the opportunity to explore erectile dysfunction testing in a sleep disorders center.

We hope that fellows find this program intellectually rewarding and that it provides a solid grounding for the Sleep Medicine board examination and a career as an outstanding sleep specialist.
